Where We Work
A National Women-Led Organization for Empowerment of Women in South Sudan
Rural Women for Development South Sudan (RWDSS) operates across various regions in South Sudan with a dedicated mission to empower women and children and foster sustainable development. As a national women-led organization registered under the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) with Registration No. 371, RWDSS is deeply embedded in the communities it serves, understanding the unique local context and needs. The organization implements a multifaceted approach to development, focusing on critical areas such as food security and sustainable livelihood development, women empowerment, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), health, and education.
RWDSS actively works to enhance food security by providing training and resources for agriculture and income-generating activities, enabling women to develop sustainable livelihoods. Through its women empowerment programs, RWDSS promotes gender equality, offers vocational training, and supports women’s participation in leadership and decision-making processes. In the area of WASH, the organization improves access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities, and educates communities on best practices to ensure a healthier environment. Health initiatives by RWDSS focus on providing essential healthcare services, maternal and child health programs, and health education, particularly benefiting women and children. In the realm of education, RWDSS supports the enrollment and retention of girls in schools, provides educational materials, and raises awareness about the importance of education for future development.
With an active presence in regions such as Central Equatoria (Yei County, Lainya, and Juba Counties), Western Equatoria (Tombura, Mundri West, Mundri East, Mvolo, and Yambio), Eastern Equatoria State (Torit, Kapoita North, and Magwi), and Lakes State (Awerial County), RWDSS is making a tangible impact on the lives of women and children. The organization’s holistic and community-driven approach ensures that its programs are tailored to the specific needs of each area, promoting long-term, sustainable development throughout South Sudan.
